TPT presents “Going local to save world – and ourselves”
 with Helena Norberg-Hodge

Helena has been raising awareness for four decades about the need to move away from dependence on global monopolies, towards decentralised, regional economies. She has also highlighted the ways the globalising economy is distancing us from the complex, interdependent web of life that is not only the real economy, but a perpetual source of wonder and fulfilment.

In this talk, Helena will argue that localisation is the antidote to consumer capitalism. The key to solving our seemingly endless social and ecological crises. A guiding principle to take us back home: to community, to the natural world, and to prosperous, place-based economies.

HELENA NORBERG-HODGE, director of Local Futures, is the author of Ancient Futures, Local is Our Future, From the Ground Up and Bringing the Food Economy Home, and producer of The Economics of Happiness and Planet Local.  She is recipient of the Alternative Nobel prize, the Arthur Morgan Award and the Goi Peace Prize.

Local Futures is the convenor of World Localization Day, a collaboration with 80 organisations in 30 countries, with the participation of prominent figures like Noam Chomsky, Gabor Mate, the Dalai Lama, Jane Goodall, Brian Eno, Naomi Klein and Russell Brand.
